John Ridley Trice Obituary
Lebanon, TN - John Ridley Trice, age 93 of Lebanon, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2026, at his residence, followed shortly thereafter by his beloved wife of 70 years, Alice Trice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Henry and Era Trice; his son, Andy Trice; his brothers, Jim Trice and Robert Trice; and his sister, Emma Jean (Raymond) Tomlinson.
Johnnie is survived by his daughter, Angela (Tim) Greene; grandchildren, Allison (Josh) Bassler, Jonathon (Amber) Trice, Lauren (Mead) Geary, Lexie Greene, and Ryan Greene; and great-grandchildren, Hadley, Hux, Hayes, Kaden, Hillary, Maddox, Heath, and Whitley; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and dear friends. He is also survived by his faithful farm manager and trusted friend, Julian.
He was born on August 24, 1932, on his family farm on Trice Road in Wilson County, a certified Century Farm. He attended Oakland Elementary School and graduated from Lebanon High School in 1950. After high school, he earned his American Farmers Degree and continued farming with his dad. Johnnie pursued additional work to support his agricultural passion and spent 19 years with Bland Motors selling Massey Ferguson tractors and equipment. In 1973, he established Trice Bookkeeping, and in 1993, he founded Trice Appraisals.
On November 11, 1955, Johnnie married the love of his life, Alice Conatser Moss of Mt. Juliet. Together, they built a life centered around family, faith, and community. They purchased the Neal Farm on Coles Ferry Pike in 1965, where they built their home and raised their two children.
Johnnie was deeply involved in his community and devoted much of his life to agriculture. He helped organize and served as president of the Young Farmers and Homemakers and also served as president of the Wilson County Livestock Association. He was a dedicated supporter of the Wilson County Farm Bureau and served for many years on the board of the Wilson County Farmers Co-op.
He was instrumental in the purchase of the current James E. Ward Agricultural Center and helped organize Wilson County Promotions, sponsors of the Wilson County Fair, where he served as the first president. In 2015, Johnny and Alice were honored as recipients of the Wilson County Fair's Old Timer Award. In 2019, he was honored with the dedication of John R. Trice Avenue at the James E. Ward Agricultural Center. He also served on the Wilson County Chamber of Commerce Board, Wilson County Industrial Board, and the Wilson County Water Authority Board. He was pivotal in organizing Peoples Bank in 1967 and Wilson Bank and Trust in 1987, where he served on the board for many years.
In recognition of his lifelong dedication to farming and his support of agricultural youth programs such as 4-H and FFA in Tennessee, Johnnie was inducted into the Wilson County Agriculture Hall of Fame in 2010.
Johnnie and Alice were longtime members of College Hills Church of Christ, where he served on the finance committee and was active in their life group. He found great joy in working on AlanJohn Farm, raising cattle, working in the hayfield, and tending his garden. Above all, he cherished time with his family—especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were his greatest blessings.
Visitation will be held at College Hills Church of Christ on Thursday, April 9th, 2026 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Funeral services will be at the church on Friday, April 10th, 2026 at 11 a.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Wilson County Memorial Gardens. Bro. Kevin Owen will officiate. Pallbearers are Jonathon Trice, Ryan Greene, Julian Lopez, David Tomlinson, Mark Tomlinson, and Jimmy Comer.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made in Mr. Trice's memory to the Wilson County Agricultural Hall of Fame, Attn. Diane Major at 925 East Baddour Parkway Suite 101, Lebanon, TN 37087.
