James R. Williams Obituary

Lebanon, TN - James Rhea Williams "J.R.", age 82, of Lebanon, Tennessee, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026.

James lived a life rooted in hard work, quiet pride, and a deep connection to the people he loved.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.D. and Melba Williams.

James worked for 36 years as an electrician at DuPont, where he was known for his steady hands, sharp mind, and unwavering work ethic. Outside of work, he found joy in farming and had a special love for his International Harvester tractors. Restoring old tractors—bringing worn machines back to life piece by piece—was one of his greatest passions and a reflection of his patience, skill, and appreciation for the past.

He is survived by his son, James (Lance Shoemaker) Williams of San Jose, CA; his daughter, Crystal (Jennifer Williams) Williams; his grandchildren, Robin (Brandon) Carter and Nathan Williams; his great-grandson, Atticus Rhea; and his sister, Minerva Williams. His family will forever carry the memory of his humor, his stories, and the values he passed down through generations.

James' presence will be deeply missed and warmly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

Family and friends will assemble at Wilson County Memorial Gardens, South Maple Street, Lebanon, Tennessee, on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM. with Pastor Jeff Pratt of Immanuel Baptist Church officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend and celebrate James' life and legacy.
