David Suess Obituary

Lebanon, TN - David Charles Suess, age 64 of Watertown, Tennessee, formerly of Grand Rapids, Michigan, passed away on July 25, 2025 after a short but courageous battle with cancer. The Funeral Service is 2 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2025 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon, TN. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 - 8 p.m. and on Thursday from noon until the service at 2 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held in Michigan at a later date.

Dave was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father Charles E Suess, and sister Susan J Suess. He is survived by his mother, Tracie "Lynne" Suess, sister Sandy (Brian) Stone, and partner Neta Crosswhite.

He graduated from Grandville High School in Michigan in 1978 and then entered the Army serving his country for four years. After leaving the Army he relocated to Tennessee and where he remained.

Over the years, he worked for various trucking companies, sometimes traveling cross country. His final job was working for Saddler Brothers hauling US Mail between Nashville and Memphis, Tennessee. A mechanic by trade, he was always tinkering around the house or helping others with projects.

Dave enjoyed the outdoors, especially waterskiing. His house was his pride and joy, and he was particular about making sure his lawn was mowed.

We would like to recognize the various doctors and staff at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Gentiva Hospice staff for their assistance, support, and care during Dave's cancer journey.

Dave will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

Suggested memorials: Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center or Gentiva Hospice.
