Lebanon, TN - Brother Bernard "Bernie" Ziehlsdorf Sr. accepted his reward in Heaven on April 23, 2025 after a lifetime of service on Earth. The Funeral Service, conducted by Brother Gordon Lee and Brother Danny Sellars, is 1 p.m. Saturday, April 26, 2025 in the chapel of Sellars Funeral Home, Lebanon, TN. Interment in Wilson County Memorial will follow the service. Pallbearers: Slade Jenkins, Bill McNutt, Tommy Pearson, Tony Walls, Brian Tienter, and Ted Earnhardt. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m.
Bernard Marvin Ziehlsdorf was born in Eau Claire, WI to Lydia Viola Erdmann Ziehlsdorf and Herman Ziehlsdorf. He served in the United States Air Force. Bernard married the love of his life Ruby Evelene Pruitte, and together they embarked on a life of service to others. They helped found and nurture the Mt. Juliet Church of God, where he served as the first Pastor. They had a nursing home ministry for 13 years. He enjoyed working with his hands, singing, playing the guitar, being in nature, and bird watching.
Mr. Ziehlsdorf is survived by children Bernard Ziehlsdorf Jr. and Debora McNeece, honorary daughters Lisa Walls and Trish Watson, honorary grandson Slade Jenkins, and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruby Ziehlsdorf, parents Lydia and Herman Ziehlsdorf, brothers Reuben and Conrad, and sister Agnes Voss.
